If you would like a chaperone to be present during your appointment please ask any member of staff before your appointment or the GP/Nurse during your consultation.
Verbal consent will be obtained from you (the patient) prior to all examinations of an initimate nature. A chaperone is offered to all patients (male or female) undergoing an intimate examination, irrespective of the gender of the doctor or nurse.
Patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality and the doctor/nurse/patient relationship will be taken into consideration when the use of a chaperone is considered/used.
If an intimate examination/procedure is necessary as part of a home visit, the patient will be asked if they require a chaperone present and a family member or friend can be chosen to be their chaperone.
Patients can also bring a chaperone to their appointment if they so wish, please inform reception when booking your appointment.
All of our chaperones are fully trained to support you during your consultation.
