Travel Advice

factor50 By appointment with the Practice Nurse.  There is a form to fill in prior to your appointment which is available from reception or download below in our Travel Vaccinations section.

Please note that this form must be completed and returned to the Practice 8 weeks prior to the date of outbound travel to ensure we can provide the appropriate advice, order vaccines and arrange appointments.

If you are travelling in less than 8 weeks time you will need to attend a private travel clinic.

Travel Vaccinations

global air travel

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to complete the travel health questionnaire form (below) and hand in at reception.  We will then look at which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting, your previous vaccination history and current medical condition to determine what vaccinations are required.  You will be then beoffered an appointment/s for the vaccines you require.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Europe Europe & RussiaNorth America North America
Central America Central AmericaSouth America South America
Caribbean CaribbeanAfrica Africa
Middle East Middle EastCentral Asia Central Asia
East Asia East AsiaAustralasia  Australasia and Pacific

It is important to provide your information as early as possible  - at least 8 weeks before you travel - as you may need more than one appointment with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

If 8 weeks notice is not provided you will be directed to a private travel clinic.
