Appointments System

All appointments can be made by telephoning 01522 515797 and selecting the appropriate option.

If you have registered for our online services you can also book some appointments online - if you have not registered and would like to do so please present photo ID at reception and login details will be provided.

We do not accept appointment requests by email.

You may consult any of the Doctors in the Practice, but we would encourage patients to see the same Doctor for ongoing problems to enable continuity of care.

If you have an urgent problem you will be offered an appointment on the same day, but this will not necessarily be with the Doctor of your choice.

Please book separate appointments for each member of the family attending Surgery.

Telephone Consultations

If you wish to speak to your doctor on the telephone, it will normally be possible to do this by arrangement with the receptionist. It would be helpful, in assessing the urgency of the call and also ensuring that the doctor has the relevant information available, if you could indicate to the Receptionist the nature of your call when you ring.

However, sometimes interruptions during surgery can be upsetting both for the doctor and the patients they are seeing. For this reason, the receptionists are asked not to disturb consultations with non-urgent telephone calls. A more convenient time for you to ring will be suggested.

If you would like a chaperone to be present during your appointment please ask any member of staff before your appointment or the GP/Nurse during your consultation.

Verbal consent will be obtained from you (the patient) prior to all examinations of an initimate nature. A chaperone is offered to all patients (male or female) undergoing an intimate examination, irrespective of the gender of the doctor or nurse.

Patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality and the doctor/nurse/patient relationship will be taken into consideration when the use of a chaperone is considered/used.

If an intimate examination/procedure is necessary as part of a home visit, the patient will be asked if they require a chaperone present  and a family member or friend can be chosen to be their chaperone.

Patients can also bring a chaperone to their appointment if they so wish, please inform reception when booking your appointment.

All of our chaperones are fully trained to support you during your consultation.

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10am if you require a home visit.

House visits are only available for patients who are genuinely housebound because of illness or disability. The receptionist will always ask you the nature of the problem, as this will enable the Doctor to decide the urgency of the visit.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery. Hence, in most cases, the Doctor will phone first to check the nature and need for home visits.

Lack of transport is not an acceptable reason for requesting the Doctor to visit.

Emergency Visits

Emergencies will be dealt with immediately by the Duty Doctor.  Please stress that the call is "an emergency".

Cancellations & Reminders

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment; this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted. Persistent defaulters may be removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time - if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day (except in the event of a medical emergency that requires immediate attention).

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
